Obituary of Geneva Gertrude Price

Geneva G. (Sampson) (Witt) (Bates) Price, age 99, formerly of Windsor, Mo.; Jasper, Mo.; Lamar, Mo.; Kansas City, Mo.; and Independence, Mo.; died peacefully on January, 25th, 2018, in North Kansas City, Missouri. The daughter of David Edward and Pearl Frances (Pattison) Sampson of Windsor, Mo. was born at the family farm near Windsor, Mo. on October 20th, 1918.  Geneva later married Forrest Witt in Windsor on October 28th, 1933. They were divorced December 23rd, 1953.  Geneva and Forrest had three children.  Geneva later married Paul Bates in Kansas City on October 24th, 1954.  Geneva lived and worked in Kansas City until she and Paul retired to Jasper, Mo. In February 1980.  Paul died on January 4th, 1982.  Geneva later married Elmer Price in Miami, Ok. on October 3rd, 1991.  After her marriage to Elmer, they moved to Lamar, Mo. They were divorced October 10th, 1995.  While living in Lamar, Geneva attended the First Christian Church.  During the past 5 years Geneva has resided at “The Groves”, a full care facility in Independence, Mo. Surviving are her three children, son Robert F. Witt and wife Aida (Martinez) (Hurst) (Wilhelm) Witt of Lamar, Mo., daughter Linda Darlene (Witt) Brown of Kansas City, Mo., and son Gerald W. Witt and wife Linda (Glorioso) Witt of Gladstone, Mo.  Also surviving are nine Grandchildren, Kyle Witt, Dana Witt, Leonel Hurst, Mark Brown, Karla (Brown) Macken and husband Travis, Kim (Brown) Pollard and husband Matt, Brett Brown and wife Jessica (Dechant) Brown, Sheila (Witt) (Lansford) Moore and husband Sean, and John Witt and wife Kim (Tarwater) Witt.  Also surviving are eleven Great-Grandchildren, Devyn Witt, Savannah Tierney, Brayden Hurst, Sophia Hurst, Haley Brown, Zack Macken, Rachel Pollard, Christopher Lansford, Benjamin Lansford, Nicole Lansford, and Lauren Witt, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding in her death were her parents and her brothers Guy Sampson who died in infancy, and Glen Sampson who died April 19, 1991. The family is mourning the loss of their mother and grandmother, but celebrating her long life of loving, caring, and teaching life’s lessons.  She leaves behind her “documented family history”, diligently researched and recorded, that will be treasured by future generations.  She will be truly missed, and the memories of her will be cherished forever by the ones she loved, and everyone she touched. The family suggests  donations be made to the “North Care Hospice House”, in care of the funeral home.
