Vida Viola Morrison, 93, Nevada, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Moore Few Care Center, Nevada, Mo. Vida was born August 14, 1917, in Cedar County, to Thomas Bertrand and Gertrude (Farmer) McArthur. Vida attended Banner Grade School until the eighth grade. At the age of 16, she married Oren E. Morrison on July 25, 1934. They lived in different states such as Idaho and Texas during the farming harvest. They moved to Lamar in 1951. Vida and her husband Oren owned and operated the Morrison Grocery Store on Gulf Street from 1951 until 1973. Vida was a member of First Christian Church in Lamar and loved to sing in the choir and also in the Church Quartet. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Sue Morrison, Lamar, Mo.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Darren and Tammy Morrison, Lamar, Mo., Deann and Rob Thompson, Springfield, Mo.; four great-grandsons, Josh Thompson, Springfield, Mo., Brayden, Jacob and Elijah Morrison, Lamar, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tom Maberry, Lamar, Mo.; two nephews and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oren on December 21, 1993, one sister, Marie Kirby and husband, Ralph and one brother, Herbert McArthur.
