Aaron Dean Matthewson

Aaron "Dean" Matthewson, 57, of Midwest City, OK passed away at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK on December 23, 2022. He was born on March 5, 1965, in Tulsa, OK to Lois (Russell) and Odis Matthewson. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1984.

He worked as a pipeline inspector and often had a quirky solution to problems. He played the trombone in school and didn’t want to be in the band so he tore it up. As a child, saw band aids as a cure all. He thought he had appendicitis and went to the doctor. When he lifted his shirt for the exam, he had put band aids on his stomach to “stop the pain”. Aaron was the ultimate OU fan, especially OU football. He enjoyed collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and had an extensive collection. Dean also enjoyed grilling and having a Budweiser. He was a good man who loved his mother and would give someone in need the shirt off his back.

Dean is survived by his mother and stepfather Lois (Bill) Kohl of Tulsa, OK; siblings David Matthewson of Tulsa, OK and Debra Newman of Seneca, MO. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Retha (CL) Squires of Lamar, MO and Conley (Sheryl) Russell of Silverdale, WA; and by many nieces, nephews and friends including Wilbur Miller who was a lifelong friend.

He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday December 29, 2022 at the Squires Family Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
