Gladys Pearl (Sloss) DeWitt, 83, went to be with Jesus on December 6, 2014 at Point Lookout Nursing Home in Hollister, Missouri. She was surrounded by family as she left on this journey. She was born on March 26, 1931 in Guthrie Center, Iowa to Robert and Pearl (Bailey) Sloss. She went to school & graduate from Guthrie Center High School. On April 28, 1951 she married Eldon Dean DeWitt in a double ceremony with Eldon's brother, Sonny and June Hardin. As an adult she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and never looked back. She and Eldon were faithful followers of Christ and were members of the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene. Eldon preceded Gladys in death after 60 years of marriage on March13, 2011. Two sisters survive Gladys: Lillian Wilson and Darlene Secoy Cue. She was preceded in death by one brother, Merle Sloss and two sisters, Bonita Betts and Kate Hayes. Gladys loved the Lord and was a devoted homemaker and mother. Her two children survive her: Eldon Dean DeWitt, Jr, (wife, Connie Jo) and Linda Lavender. Also surviving are her Four grandchildren: Krystal (Mike) Schwabauer, Mark (Clyda) DeWitt, Deanna DeWitt Baca and Lana (Curtis) Reed. Eight great grandchildren survive her: Celce DeWitt, Reanna DeWitt and Sammy DeWitt; Lacie Reed (Matthew Stinnet), Lindsey (Demar) Bissick and Leonardo Reed; Gracie Schwabauer and Abby Schwabauer. Gladys also has two great-great grandchildren: Alexander Bissick and Demarcus Bissick. Gladys was a fun loving person, adding a bright spark to the lives of everyone she was around. Services will be at Konantz-Warden Funeral Home. Visitation is on Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The celebration of her life will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am .
