Joseph Gilmartin

Joseph Anthony (Joe) Gilmartin, a farmer, age 80, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Joe was born on June 18, 1933 to Ted and Faye (Metcalf) Gilmartin. Joe graduated from Liberal High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Betty L. Loewe on October 18, 1953. She survives. Other survivors include, a daughter, Christine Fast and husband Lester of Liberal, MO; two sons, Kent Gilmartin and James Gilmartin and wife Karen, all of Lamar, MO. Ten grandchildren, Rachel Miller and husband Erik, Chris Wood, Brent Fast and wife Jenn, Andrea Jones and husband Rob, Amber Payne and husband Mike, April Brown and husband Tim, Austin Gilmartin, Heather Costley and husband Joe, Dylan Gilmartin and Krista Gilmartin. Eight great grandchildren, Garrett, Delaney, and Gunner Miller; Augie and Logan Fast, Rye Jones, and Justin and Copelyn Payne. Also surviving ; three sisters, Wanda Yokley, Wanita Roberts, and Wilma Pritchard. Joe was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Wood, a granddaughter Melissa Wood and a daughter-in-law Carol (Rodney) Gilmartin. in keeping with Joe's wishes thhe family will have a private service at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Barton City Cemetary.
