Leonard D. Braker, age 87, of Lamar went home to be with the Lord Monday September 14 at Barton County Hospital in Lamar. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church on Hwy O, south of Hwy 160 In Barton County , under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home. There will be a visitation Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home in Lamar. Burial will be at the Barton City Cemetery where a military Honors service will be presented. Leonard was born in Barton County July 30, 1928 to Sam and Sarah (Banwart) Braker. He grew up, one of 11 children, and attended the Duval School. He entered the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. When He returned from overseas service he married Bonnie Davis August 23, 1954, and they recently celebrated their 61st anniversary. He was a farmer and only recently retired (sort of). He was a disciple and obedient follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of the Apostolic Church. Leonard was preceded in death by, and now reunited with, his parents, 5 brothers, Albert, Fred, Lester, Ben and Oscar Braker; 3 sisters, Bernice Frieden, Edna Somerhalder and Pearl Braker; a daughter-in-law, René Braker and a grand daughter Tarah Keith. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home, Carol Marti, Linda Barton and husband Rick, Tim Braker and wife Terri and Terry Braker and wife Ronda, 9 grand children, Brandi Wolf and husband Andy, Jo Ann Wentland and husband Jon, Andy Marti and wife Misty, Chariti Farmer and husband Jason, Bryce Barton and wife Marki, Teague Braker and wife Kelli, Ryan Braker, Trent Braker, and Trey Braker; 22 great grand children, a brother, Raymond Braker and a sister, Alice Marti and extended family members, Butch and Liz Barton and their children Ausitn, Amanda and Jesica and Derrall and Sherrie Beasley and daughter Leslie. Leonard was a gentleman and a friend to all. He was extremely considerate and generous, and will be missed by all of us who knew his friendship.
