Lucy Mae Davis, Lamar, MO, age 99, passed away February 15, 2012, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lamar, MO. Lucy Mae was born in Elm, MO, October 21, 1912, to Fred O. and Nell Moore Snow. She graduated from Lamar High School, Lamar, Mo Lucy Mae attended college at CMSU, Warrensburg, MO, received a teacher certificate, and was a rural school teacher in a 1 room school house. She married William Chester "Chet" Davis, December 23, 1933 in Nevada, MO. Lucy Mae then became a homemaker after they moved to rural Lamar, MO, where they resided for 60 years. Lucy Mae was a member of the First Baptist Church Lamar. She enjoyed gardening, Sunday School and many clubs. She also enjoyed mowing her yard wearing a very large brimmed hat, tied under her chin. Preceding Lucy Mae in death are her husband, Chet; her parents; a brother, Forest Snow; two daughters, Billie Lou Davis, Judith Kay Davis; son in law, Carl VanGilder. Survivors include a son, Bill Davis and wife, Cathy, of Richards, MO; a daughter, Patsy VanGilder, of Lamar, MO; seven grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren; sister Adelia Slack, Holden, MO.; and many nephews and nieces. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, and all those who knew and loved her.
