Eulah Maxine Cox

Eulah "Maxine" Cox, 90, of Lamar, MO passed away on Tuesday February 6, 2024. Maxine was a great woman of Christian faith and was often looked to for compassion, comfort, and wisdom. She will be sorely missed. She was born in Milford, MO to William and Lillie (Dockery) Wilson. She attended Valley School in the Milford Area and then graduated from Lamar High School in Lamar, MO. She married her country sweetheart, Leo Cox, November 1, 1953, and they celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends just one day before Leo passed away. Maxine worked in her home taking care of her family until the age of 65. She then went to work for Lamar Greenhouse and Florist and remained employed there until she retired at 89 years old.

She was a busy lady with a sweet disposition. She enjoyed her garden and grew and preserved a lot of the food she fed her family. She sewed and created wreaths and other items. She grew her own gourds, created crafts with them and sold them in craft shows. She was so creative and talented that she gathered scrap wood and created items with it and put them in her craft shows as well. Each year, she and Leo would take their family on a two-week vacation. She enjoyed taking them and other family members on vacations in their trucks and campers across the United States, Canada and Alaska. Maxine loved music and played the piano and mandolin. She loved playing for people and at the age of 90 could often be found entertaining the residents and staff of Maple Senior Living. Maxine loved the CHIEFS and Friday night Lamar Tiger football. If they weren’t on a station she could watch she had her radio tuned in to 101.9 to listen. I’m sure she will be rooting tomorrow for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs from the best seats in the house.

Maxine loved her family. She loved not only her immediate family but loved being surrounded by the ripples of her family through the branches of cousins, nieces, nephews and more. Everyone, family or not was welcome in her home where she showed true hospitality and was always ready to feed them. She is remembered for her kind and warm regard for everyone and her pleasant disposition. Her loss is deeply felt by both her family and her community.

She is survived by daughter Debbie Little and husband Kim, sons Justen Cox and wife Brenda and Cooper Cox and Sherry Gastel, 6 grandchildren, Nathan Little, Melanie Eitel and husband Jamie, Andrew Little, Vanessa Manes and husband Mike, Garrett Cox and wife Brittany, Dalton Cox and fiancé Alie, great- grandchildren, Natasha Little, Olivia Manes, Grayson Manes, Brayden Cox, Ellie Cox, and Adalyn Cox, a sister Darlene Logan of Miller, MO and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Gerald Wilson and Lonnie Wilson.
