Roy Malcolm Lehman

Roy Malcolm Lehman, 95, of Lamar, MO passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. He was born on May 16, 1928, in Iantha, MO to Guy and Eunice (Hughes) Lehman. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1946 and he married Thelma Johnston on November 5, 1950.

He honorably served in the United States Army as corporal from January 1951 to December 1952. During the Korean War, he was stationed in the artillery unit behind Heartbreak Ridge.

Roy was a lifelong farmer in rural Barton County who spent his life working hard and providing for his wife and five children. He rarely missed any of his children and grandchildren’s school programs and sporting events. He was known for “Roy-isms,” delivered with perfect timing and a smirk. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends who will miss him greatly.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Thelma Lehman; sons, Jerald (Connie) Lehman and Allen (Lisa) Lehman; twin daughters, Kenda Garfield and Karma (Mark) Hartong all of Lamar; and grandchildren, Nicole (Micah) Osborne, Brandon (Brittanii) Lehman, Kelsey (Brandon) Parker, Whitney (Jeffrey) Begley, Parker (Ciara) Garfield, Alison (Mitchell) Hedrick, and Taylor (Austin) Doran. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Eli and Ella Osborne; Trentyn, Talia, Jaidyn and Jaxton Lehman; Karson and Sophia Parker; Macey Garfield; Gracee and baby boy Garfield; Lane and baby Hedrick; and Lydia, Delilah and Violet Doran.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Penni Lehman, son-in-law Mark Garfield, and sisters, Fern Norris, Donna Mae McColm, Mary Ann Faith, Jenny Routon, and infant sister, Geraldine.
