Scott Alan Mabe, 66, of Lamar, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Born in Kansas City, MO, to Joyce (Callen) and Richard Mabe, Scott grew up in the Jerico Springs area and graduated from Stockton High School in 1976. Soon after, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the Army. He then lived in various places before he eventually made his home in Lamar, MO.
He was a Field Appraiser for the Barton County Tax Assessor’s Office and spent several years as a jailer for the Barton County Sheriff’s Department. His strong work ethic and commitment to his community were evident in all that he did.
On February 15, 1992, Scott married the love of his life, Susan Davis. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. He found great joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, but he was happiest at home, surrounded by his beloved dogs—especially Zeffie, who was his special companion.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife, Susan; his children, Bret Mabe of Lamar, MO, and Alicia Mabe of Kansas City, MO; his sister, Kim Jeffries of Stockton, MO; niece, Sarah Fleeman of Springfield, MO; nephew, Clay Jeffries of Jerico Springs, MO; and many dear friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, whom he loved and honored throughout his life.
A graveside service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held at Lake Cemetery on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
Scott will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to family and community, and his unwavering love for those closest to him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
