Alice Adell Rives, 100, Iantha, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, MO. Alice was born May 18, 1911 in Wheatland, Missouri to John and Nora (Crooks ) Costelow. She rode a blind mare while attending school in Wheatland, MO. Alice married Charles Nelson Rives on September 9, 1925 in Barton County, MO at the home of Preach Haddock, They moved to a farm in Iantha where they lived for 76 years. Alice enjoyed milking and making cottage cheese, gardening, sewing and reading. She attended Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a devoted farmers wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Rives and wife Lorene of Jasper, MO and James Rives and wife, Josephine of Moundville, MO; one daughter, Jean Foster of Lamar, MO; thirteen grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 53 great great grandchildren and 4 great great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, daughter Beatrice Mayes, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, 4 brothers, John, Buel, Myron, Charlie, and 3 sisters Eva, Mary and Olive.
