Obituary of Mary Denny

Mary Carolyn (Hart) Denny, 89, of Joplin, MO, passed away August 18, 2013. She was born May 23, 1924 in Moran, KS, but spent most of her school years in Iola, KS. She was the daughter of Leota and Calvin Hart. She formerly lived in Iantha, but had been a resident of Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, first in the duplexes for seventeen years and then independently at the Congregational Building for the last two years. Mary married Verne Denny, April 13, 1944. He preceded her in death September 10, 2011. Also preceding her are sons-in-law; Mike Savage and Warren Roehrs. Survivors include children, Judy Roehrs, Iantha; Bill and wife Donna, Aurora, CO; Joe and wife, Loretta, Mesa, AZ; and Cyndy Savage of Lampe. They also had five grandchildren Kim Roehrs, Scott Roehrs, Ron Roehrs, Russ Savage and Michelle Savage French; ten great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Mary was not only a loving wife and mother, but also a true volunteer in the United Methodist church at Iantha for nearly fifty years, the Liberal school and later the Spring River Christian Village (SRCV) Auxiliary, volunteering many hours as a seamstress. She also enjoyed sharing her sewing talent by making many gifts for family and friends.
