Obituary of Dortha Ayers

Dortha M. Ayers, 91, of Lamar, MO, passed away December 22, 2013. She was born May 20, 1922, in Lamar, MO to Fred and Agnes (Washburn) Gust. Dortha attended college and worked as a drafting supervisor for Finley Engineering for many years. Dortha married Orvan Ayers, February 19, 1941. Two children were born to this union, Janet and Jarel. She enjoyed bowling. Dortha belonged to many bowling leagues, was a WIBC Tournament participant and received many trophies and patches. She loved her Lord and was a member of the Iantha United Methodist Church. Dortha is survived by her daughter, Janet and son-in-law Kenneth Miles, Lamar, MO; five grandchildren, Tamela, Teresa, Katherine, Jarel and Wesley; fourteen great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son PFC Jarel, who died in the line of duty one of the first in the Lamar area to serve in Vietnam; great-granddaughter, Kendra Gard; her parents; a sister, Georgia Butler. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
