Somers "Grandpa"81 of Nevada, Mo. passed away on Tuseday, Sep. 22 at Moor-Few Care Center, Following a short illness. Jack was born May 22, 1934 in Delphos Kan. to Robert Ernest Somers (Bob) and Ethel Zenda Sinclair. In his younger years he worked as a farm hand for farmers in and around Ottawa county Kan. Then in 1954 he enlisted in the US Army in Aug. of that yr. He took his basic training at Ft. Bliss in Texas and another eight weeks at Ft. Leonardwood Mo. In November of 1954, he started writing to Loretta M Pemberton , a friend of his sister June, that began a two year correspondence. He was united in marriage to Loretta May Pemberton on Sep 16, 1956 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the beautiful Sunken Garden's. He then moved his family to Nevada in 1976 because of the job wages here. where him and his wife both got job with the State Hospital. In 1994 he then retired from the State Hospital in Nevada Mo. His hobbies included talking to his brother John on the CB radio and going to auctions with him, and having breakfast at 54 café. Jack was known as the man with the family of five Jack's. Survivors include his wife of the home Loretta Somers, his children; Cheryl Milano and her husband Ron of Lincoln NE. Jack Somers (Buster) and his wife Taty of Lincoln NE. Carolee McMillen and her husband of Sturgeon Mo. Robert Somers and his wife Stephanie of Nevada, Mo. Steven Somers and his wife Eve Nevada, Mo. 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by both his parents 3 brothers, Cecil, Thomas, and Jerry. 1 sister June, and 4 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Deerfield Baptist Church Oct. 3, at 10:00am and grave side services Oct. 4, in Ada Kan. at 2:00 pm.
