Obituary of Rose Ann Overman

Rose Ann Overman, 78, of Liberal, MO passed away Wednesday October 7, 2020 at her home. She was born September 22, 1942 in Vallejo, CA to Cecil and Lois (Runnels) Smith. She was a member of the Oakton United Methodist Church. Rose Ann attended North Star Elementary, a one room schoolhouse until 8th grade and then Liberal High School, where she graduated in 1960. Rose Ann and Rodney Overman were married October 2, 1960 at the Nashville Christian Church. Together they raised 2 children, Howard and Shellie. Rose Ann worked for Glick Mercantile as a key punch operator for about 3 years until her children came along. She served 35 years as a clerk for Nashville Township and also served on the Extension Council and the FHA Committee. She enjoyed line dancing and dancing the two step with Rodney. Rose Ann was a great farm businesswoman. She inherited her mechanical skills from her dad and not only loved driving her tractors but enjoyed working on them just as much. She was a hard-working woman who loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved going to their ball games. She also enjoyed feeding her family and friends and although she was known as a good all-around cook, she was especially known for her amazing pies. Rose Ann is survived by her son Howard Overman and wife Tracy of Liberal, MO, daughter Shellie Blevens of Liberal, MO, 3 grandchildren; Taylor Overman and wife Brooke of Liberal, MO, Brandon Overman of Liberal, MO, Ashley Cole and husband Jakeob of Lincoln, NE and 2 great-grandchildren; Rhett and Walker Overman of Liberal, MO. She is also survived by a brother, Don Smith and his wife Fran of Pittsburg, KS, a sister, Carrie Wilson and husband Randy of Webb City, MO, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Show Me Christian Youth Home Leadership U program. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 AM followed by a funeral service at Oakton United Methodist Church on Saturday October 10, 2020. Interment will be at Nashville Cemetery.
