Reba Fae Simmons, 91, of Lamar, MO passed away on May 1, 2021 at St Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, MO. Reba was born August 6, 1929 in Dade County to Claude and Opal Palmer Jones. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart Robert Simmons on August 1, 1948 and they were together for 64 years. They were lifelong residents of Barton County. She was a community leader of 4-H from 1958 to 1975. Reba was known for her large garden and amazing canning marathons. Her pantry was always well stocked and if you ever needed to borrow something it was yours. She was an avid sewer and quilter. Many relatives and friends have been a recipient of her projects over the years. She also had a love of fishing and cutting wood. Reba was always willing to pitch in and help anyone who needed it. That lesson was taught to all the people who surrounded her in her life. Her large heart stretched far and wide. She had family and friends throughout Barton County. There was enough love to reach up to the Kansas City bunch, down to the Texas family, and all the way to California. She was a faithful member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as Clerk of the Session for many years. She was active in CPW and taught various Sunday school classes for 20 years. She is survived by a son Calvin (Debra) Simmons of Lamar, MO; daughter Jan Rogers of Raleigh, NC; sister Sarah White of Texas; and sister-in-law Wanda Michel of Grandview, MO. She is also survived by grandsons, Joshua, Phillip, and Tyler; 3 great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; infant son, Gerald; 5 sisters, Madelene Phipps, Olive Pyatt, Mary Williams, Alma Reaves, and Wanda Jones; and one brother Curtis (Jack) Jones. She was loved and will be missed by all. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society or Nigh Cemetery. A visitation at noon, followed by a 1:00 PM funeral service will be held at Konantz Warden Funeral Home on Wednesday May 5, 2021.
