Obituary of Dorothy Marie Penry

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Penry, 50, of Wichita, KS passed away on Monday January 17, 2022. She was born in Parsons, KS to Lucille (Penry) and Gary Marks. Dorothy went to school in Wichita, KS and then attended Job Corps. She enjoyed all types of music, arranging flowers, and dreamt of learning how to craft blown glass. She loved turtles, had a passion for cooking, and lived to watch Patrick Mahomes and the KC Chiefs. Dorothy enjoyed watching movies with her family even though she didn't always stay awake through them. She also loved people, especially children, and never met a stranger. A holiday didn't go by without a new friend joining the family for dinner so that they did not have to spend the day alone. She loved and was always thinking about her children and grandchildren and when she could next spend time with them. Dorothy is survived by her mother; sons, Emilio Labicani Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Gordon Labicani of Las Vegas, NV and Phillip Labicani of Sacramento, CA; daughter Starr Ornelas of Wasco, CA; and two grandchildren, Adeline and ElaMarie. She is also survived by a brother, Shawn Marks of Wichita, KS; sister, Tam Spillman of Wichita, KS; nieces; nephews; and many cousins, including her very favorites, Kennedy and Ilana. She is preceded by her grandmother, Genevieve Penry and her aunt, Freda Penry-Colling. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in care of the funeral home, to the family to help with final expenses. A memorial celebration will be held on July 4, 2022, at 4 PM. Details will be updated here closer to that date.
