Samuel Lorren “Sam” Crabtree, age 80, of Liberal, MO passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, at 12:16 PM after a short stay at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Sam was born on December 21, 1941, in Lamar, MO, to Lorren O. and Marie (Washburn) Crabtree. He graduated Liberal High School in the class of 1960. While in high school he was accomplished in athletics and music. Later in life he graduated from MSSC in Joplin. MO, for Criminal Justice.
On December 8, 1963, he married Marjorie “Margie” Owen in Irwin, MO. Together they lived on the family farm just east of Verdella where they raised cattle, horses, mules, hunting dogs, and operated a dairy for many years. He enjoyed doing chores, coon hunting and going to horse sales.
Sam is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie of the home; sons Nathan (Elizabeth) Crabtree of Manhattan, KS; and Paul (Tanya) Crabtree of Liberal, MO; sister Sally (Bob) Suschnick of Liberal, MO; and 5 grandchildren, Lucas Crabtree of Manhattan, KS, Theodore “Theo”, Annabell, Samantha, and Lauren Crabtree of Liberal, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Barton City Cemetery in care of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday May 12, 2022, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Barton City Cemetery on Friday May 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
