Leroy Phipps, 81, Lee's Summit, MO, formerly Lamar, passed away July 26, 2012. Leroy was born in Lamar, MO, August 7, 1930, to John and Nellie Baldridge Phipps. Leroy graduated from Lamar High School. He then served in the US Marines during the Korean conflict. Leroy made his home in Barton County and was a farmer all his life. He was a member of Milford Christian Church and his favorite Bible passage was John 14:1-3. He married Reba Stump, June 12, 1949 in Lamar, and to this union was born three children. After Reba's passing in 2002, he married Nellie Williams. When Nellie passed, Leroy moved to Lee's Summit, MO with his daughter. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his spouses Reba and Nellie; a granddaughter, Julie Phipps; brother, John Howard Phipps. He is survived by his three children, daughter Brenda Rhodes, Lee's Summit, MO; sons Allen Phipps, Gladstone, MO, and Jerry Phipps, Lamar, MO; grandchildren Mandy Browning, Lamar, Heather Duncan, Lamar, Abby Phipps, Lamar, Toby Johnston, Joplin, and Zeke Johnston, Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren, Ian Knotts, Brianna and Julia Browning, Britni, Brantly, Bayli and Bryli Duncan, Taylor Clouse, Keaton and Maddux Johnston; brother Delbert Phipps, Carthage, MO. He will be greatly missed by a host of friends and family.
