Obituary of Eva Lewis

Eva Lewis, age 92, of Liberal, MO, passed away July 12, at Truman Health care in Lamar, Eva was born September 3, 1920 to Elmer and Ruth Lofgren Durham on the family farm in Lawrence county, Missouri. She graduated from Aurora High School and soon after graduation Married Ralph Lewis on May 31st, 1939, in Arcola, MO, During WWII she was a "Rosie the Riveter " working at the Pratt Whitney aircraft plant in Kansas City and during the Korean war at the Parsons Ammunitions Plant in Kansas. She and Ralph farmed just north of liberal before moving to town. She was most proud to have become a certified repertory inhalation therapist and worked for the state hospital in Nevada until retirement in 1984. She was a quilter and enjoyed quilting with the quilting ladies of the Liberal United Methodist Church where she was a member. In 1991 her husband Ralph preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Duane Lewis and wife Nancy, 2 grand children Tifani Young and husband Brian of Rathdrum, Idaho, Matthew Lewis and wife Sheri of Lorton, VA and 2 great grand children McKenna and Hunter Young. A graveside service, under the direction of the Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar, will be held 2 pm Tuesday July 16 at the Liberal city Cemetery.
